David W. Carstens || Editor-In-Chief & Director

David W. Carstens is a writer, filmmaker, game designer, and the founder/director of Cheap Imitation. He was the recipient of the Democracy Scholar political theory grant by the Ohio-based political think-tank The Center for the Study of American Democracy, and his short story A Girl and Her Mother received an honorable mention in Glimmer Train’s Nov/Dec 2018 Family Matters Short Story Contest.

Micheal Moore Jr. || Managing Editor & Social Media Manager

Michael is a writer and holds a BA Writing, English & Classics, and an MA Writing from a prestigious Irish university. He worked in AI, Film/TV and Publishing for a number of years before joining the team at Cheap Imitation.

Micheal originally joined as Social Media Manager, but has since taken on more-and-more responsibility. He has more than earned the role of Managing Editor, a role which he will now hold in conjunction with his social media management.


Rebecca Goldberg || Design Director

Rebecca Goldberg is a science fiction writer, graphic designer, and undergraduate student at Yale University. She has designed for dozens of publications, nonprofits, and small businesses, and she publishes her writing occasionally, in places. Currently she is taking time off school to work as an assistant curator for the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library and as a freelance designer.

Kaiya R. Case || Poetry Editor & Chief Curator

Kaiya Case grew up just outside Philadelphia, and now attends Kenyon College in middle-of-nowhere Ohio as a student of English creative writing and Art History, and recipient of the Kenyon Writing Award scholarship for her poetry. She also works as an associate for The Kenyon Review, and as an independent musician on her own time.


Cole Adams || Music Editor

Cole Adams is a guitarist and composer/arranger who is currently pursuing a BBA in Economics with a minor in Music from The University of North Texas. His favorite genres include Jazz, Neo-Soul, and Minimalism. His other interests include cycling, video games, and making weird sounds on synthesizers.


Danya Koueider || Nonfiction Editor

Danya Koueider received her MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, University of London. She’s edited and written articles for the AUC Times, MIR Online and Cairo Contra Magazine. In her creative pieces, Danya explores the dichotomy of East and West through her upbringing. Her work is an exploration of a feeling of otherness. Her interests include non-fiction works that are experimental and those that lie within themes of existentialism.
